The Canadian-born School Board Trustee, United Church missionary, and veteran of 22 years in China during one of its most turbulent periods, revisits the country with her husband in 1952 and, based on face-to face interaction with business people, government leaders, peasants, trade unionists, teachers, and other citizens, presents a basically positive overview of the energy and enthusiasm among the Chinese people that she observed first-hand during their time in Peking, Nanking, Shanghai and other locations. Profusely illustrated throughout with black-&-white photographs. Numerous factual appendices included.
