The Five Nations (fourth edition); The Seven Seas (Thirteenth edition); Barrack-Room Ballads and Other Verses (Twenty-fifth edition). With vignette illustrations to title pages. In three volumes. Joseph Rudyard Kipling (1865 - 1936) was an English short-story writer, poet, and novelist chiefly remembered for his tales and poems of British soldiers in India, and his tales for children. He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907. Kipling is best known for his works of fiction, including The Jungle Book, Just So Stories, Kim, many short stories, and some poetry. He is regarded as a major innovator in the art of the short story; his children's books are enduring classics of children's literature; and his best works are said to exhibit a versatile and luminous narrative gift. Previous owner's ink inscriptions dated 1917 to front pastedown. Condition: Uniformly bound in half calf with cloth covered boards. Externally, generally smart but with slight wear to extremities and minor fading to spine and odd marks to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Generally bright and clean throughout but with the occasional spot mostly to endpapers and text block edge and the odd slight mark to pages. With slight marginal chipping and a few minor closed tearsand previous repair to closed tear to page 17 to one volume. Overall: VERY GOOD INDEED.
