Gives a comprehensive account of the growth and development of the estate to the beginning of the 21st century, and includes background information about its owners. There are short biographies of two of its most famous owners, Thomas Wentworth, the great Earl of Strafford (1593 - 1641), and Charles, Second Marquess of Rockingham (1730 - 1782), who was twice Prime Minister. Contains a wealth of information from many sources, and included many previously unpublished photos.
