The text is illustrated with 32 black-and-white contemporary illustrations (facsimiles of documents and experiments etc.]. 1/4 green coloured backstrip with gilt titles. 3/4 dark gray coloured boards. A small mark to the lower edge of the text block. Bumping to the lower backstrip edge, otherwise no damage to note. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing a portrait of Benjamin Franklin with gold, white and black titles to the front panel and gold and white titles to the backstrip. Black and white photograph of the author to the rear fold over panel. Hint of rubbing to the dustwrapper edges. A biography of Benjamin Franklin, scientist, statesman and a founding father of the United States. The author looks at Franklin's science experiments and natural history observations in light of his subsequent statesmanship. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
