Book is valuable for the maps and plates as much as anything else. Includes 6 very nice plates of instruments on heavy page stock (Plate titles models of tripod and tower signals; Reconnaissance telescopes and heliotrope; Twelve-inch direction theodolite; Twelve-inch direction theodolite, arranged for use at night, including lams, striding level and vertical circle; Eight-inch repeating theodolite arranged for measuring zenith distances; Eight-inch repeating theodolite with large telescope as used in measuring horizontal angles). Many sketches throughout text to illustrate and accompany measurements and tables. Five independent maps in map pocket at rear endpaper all present and intact with some smudges, discoloration and corner/edge bends and creases - mainly from not resting in pocket fully (Map titles: Triangulation in Eastern and Central New York; Primary Triangulation in the State of New York; Triangulation of the Hudson Rive, Troy to Albany; Triangulation of the Hudson River, Albany to New Baltimore; Triangulation of the Hudson River, New Baltimore to Hudson).
