About This Item
New York: Geo. A. Leavitt, 1870. Hardcover. 12mo. Blue blind-ruled cloth with gilt spine lettering and decorations. 358pp. Frontispiece, illustrations. Good plus. Binding quite edgeworn and rubbed, mainly at spine head and tail; text block likewise edgeworn and age toned, with front flyleaf an expert contemporary replacement; bright blue rectangle on front board suggests long-ago rental library label. Tight, decent later printing of this 1865 text, part of this publisher's "Young American's Library of Modern Heroes" series. Title as it appears on half-title page: "Life and Military Career of Major-General Philip Henry Sheridan." Despite heavy wear, a presentable and handleable early reprint edition -- and actually rather uncommon.
