Silver City New Mexico; (2003): High Lonesome Books. First Edition. Octavo. Limited to 500 copies, this copy signed by the author on the title page. Allison was noted as the best gunman in Texas. He became the youngest sheriff in Texas at age 27 in 1888, was gunned down in 1923 still wearing a badge. He was a member of the Texas Rangers, Arizona Rangers, Chief of Police in Roswell, NM, personal bodyguard for Col. Green during the 1906 mining strike and much more . 285pp., bound in brown cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt. A fine bright copy in fine pictorial dust jacket. Very nice.
