Random House, January 1971. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good/Good. Used hardcover in a dust jacket. Stated first edition with number line that reads '97532468'. jacket has not been price clipped with stated price '$5.95'. Previous owner's name 'Block' written in pen on front flyleaf. jacket has been protected in clear mylar covering. jacket is a bit worn about the edges and somewhat scuffed, but without any serious tears. Some corners have chipped away. There are minor stains and soiling to jacket throughout but no severe or stand out markings. Overall jacket is in good condition. Binding is cocked slightly. Page block has medium amount of soiling to top edge and light amount of soiling to side and bottom of page block; soiling consists of dirt spotting. No markings to text or other serious flaws.

Synopsis

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream is a novel by Hunter S. Thompson, illustrated by Ralph Steadman. The book is a roman à clef, rooted in autobiographical incidents. The story follows its protagonist, Raoul Duke, and his attorney, Dr. Gonzo, as they descend on Las Vegas to chase the American Dream through a drug-induced haze. The novel first appeared as a two-part series in Rolling Stone magazine in 1971, was printed as a book the same year, and was later adapted into a film of the same name in 1998 starring Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro. According to The New York Times,  Fear and Loathing "cemented Mr. Thompson's place as a singular presence in American journalism or, as he once called himself, 'a connoisseur of edge work.'"
