New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1909. ix, 111p., calendared paperstock, first edition 7x4.5 inch ribbed blue cloth boards gilt; gilt titling and decorative cover illustration remain quite bright, boards slightly edgeworn, top edge a little dust-soiled, scattered light foxing, a very good copy. Story of an agricultural village that became a lively industrial center; Jordan, something of an enthusiast for eugenics, feels taxation takes money from the inert and provides the active, benefitting all of society. His exemplar village made boots, which became more affordable.
