London: Richards Phillips, 1805. Very Good. [xi] pp1-638 The sixth edition of The Farmer's Calendar owned by Mary Anne Whitby of Newlands, her bookplate dated 1832 is found on the front pastedown. Mrs Whitby was an authority on the cultivation of silkworms who reintroduced sericulture to England and in the 1840's corresponded extensively with Charles Darwin about inherited characteristics in silkworms and other insects. The book has been bound in half leather over marbled boards with gilt titles. In very good condition, the spine leather and boards are rubbed and worn to the corners but the binding remains sound and the text is clean and bright. Very Good 1805
