In two volumes, a new edition, revised and enlarged, engraved title page, half-title and regular title page, containing 96 colored plates each with blank page prior to plate itself to ward off any off-setting to the previous text, 2 additional color plates of the vegetable kingdom numbered 99 and 100. with tissue guards present, and an engraved portrait of the author. paginations; Vol. 1: Lv, 1-4; Vol. II: Vol. II: xxxvi, 1-4. i.e. each plate is described within 4 numbered pages giving its name, what family it belongs to, where it is to be found, its botanical analysis, classification, essential characters, natural history, chemical and medical properties along with its uses). A handsome set with very minor occasional spots of foxing to plates, mostly marginal, bound in publisher's black embossed cloth, professionally rebacked with original spine laid down, endpapers renewed, chipping to upper joint of volume two,, wear to corners. Very nice.
