Heinemann, London, 1967. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Very Good. VIII, 246 pages, last two pages blank. Black coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Photographic dustwrapper, showing a gloved hand holding a surgical needle and thread, with black titles to the front panel and backstrip. A novel about plastic surgery, during its infancy in the 1920s and 30s. Reconstructive surgery had its start after the devastation that was World War I and the hideous injuries suffered by the soldiers. This is the first of a proposed trilogy starring the Trevose family and surgery over 4 generations. slight rubbing of the bottom edge of the dustjacket especially around the spine, and foxing of the inside of the dustjacket across the top edge. There are a couple of faint grubby marks on the front end pages. No other damage to describe. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Dust Jacket price-clipped. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
