London: Edward & Charles Dilly, 1768. 1st Edition. Leather bound. 140p, complete with 18 copper-engraved plates. Recently rebound in full leather, preserving the original endpapers. Ownership signature dated 1773 by Mary Hanson; bookplate of Sir Thomas Gery Cullom, Baronet. Cullom, of Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk, married Hanson in 1774. Offsetting from the plates, else interior pages clean and book in overall near fine condition.

The sixteenth fable in this volume, 'The Hare and the Partan', is written in Scottish midlothian dialect. Fables include 'The Young Lady and the Looking-Glass', 'The Kite and the Rooks', 'The Muse and the Shepherd', and 'The Grasshopper and the Glowworm'.
