Inscribed 1902, text in French, folio, 425 x 320 mm, 16½ x 12½ inches, cloth backed brown boards with coloured illustrations to upper cover, lower cover is the story of Le Gland & la Citrouille with 6 coloured illustrations, pink patterned endpapers. 25 brightly HAND COLOURED sheets of illustrations for 35 fables, printed 1 side only. Most occupy 1 single page, some fables are 4 to a page, text below images or inset in a panel beside them. Head and tail of spine and corners slightly worn, a few slight chips to board edges, a slight crease across lower corners of covers, 35 mm (1½") from tip, slight scrape to margin of 1 illustration on upper cover. Front pastedown shows 6 tiny remains of paper once stuck there, neat inscription dated 1902 on reverse of front endpaper, several short closed margin tears within all repaired neatly with archival tape, 20 mm (¾") chip to 1 lower margin, small closed tear to lower inner margin of final plate, faint browning to page edges.
