This is a complete issue, seldom found in such good and original condition. The first detailed survey of Malebo Pool (formerly Stanley Pool or Lake Nkunda) in 1884, in the lower reaches of the Congo River, is recounted and dispersed with compelling descriptions of remote equatorial towns and revealing accounts of various indigenous hedonistic tribal customs including slavery, promiscuity, human sacrifice rituals. From Arthington, near Leopoldville, a river steam vessel named Peace, was launched on Stanley Pool and was embarked to explore the Kiva, the Kwango (Cuango), and the Kasai rivers. A historically significant journey described first-hand and accompanied with a colour map. . First Edition.
