A classic text written by Amherst College professor who led many fossil-finding expeditions that discovered the bones of ancestors of the modern horse. In 233 pages with Index, black-and-white photos & line drawings throughout text. A FIRST EDITION, first printing from 1926, this hardcover book is in Near Fine condition: Bound in deep burgundy textured cloth-over-boards that is completely clean, corners crisp, binding straight & strong, pages modestly tanned, commensurate with age; endpapers show heavier tanning, but absolutely NO foxing. Former owner's name & date on ffep; NO other writing/underlining/highlighting; NOT ex-lib. The unclipped DJ (with orig. price scratched out & new price in pen written on front flap) is Near Fine, downgraded due to minor wrinkling to upper back cover. Otherwise, virtually flawless!
