With owner's name and inscription inside cover. Boards loose, backstrip of volume 2 is detached but present. In good internal condition. No dust jacket. In original leather bindings with gilt borders and faded gilt lettering on the backstrips. Decorative blind stamp on the front covers, raised bands on the backstrip. Backstrip on volume 2 is detached, both are worn. Edges are rubbed, all pages edges are marbled. Covers almost detached on volume 1, pages are clean of annotations. Minor tear on the first page alongside the spine. // Volume II: Publication of 288 pages. Dated 1876. Most of the label is missing. // Heavy book may require extra postage unless posted within South Africa. Full Leather. 5 Raised bands. Bright Gold top page edges and Decorated edges on the front covers. Book plates tipped in on the front free endpaper pages and there are several stamp marks in both books. The boards are a little shelf rubbed. There is foxing around the block and on the early and last pages, little within the body of the book in both books. The text remains legible.
