About This Item

Colombo: The Bauddha Sahitya Sabha (by arrangement with OUP), 1961. xii, 215p., publisher's ad leaf, first issue of this [third] edition, gilt-titled clothbacked printed boards; casing is slightly rolled and cloth spine is heavily "silverfished" (i.e., find scattered losses of sizing to spine panel), faint soil to cover, binder's paste-creep has browned the free endsheets. An else sound clean copy. "The present edition does not make any noticeable changes in the text apart from supplying a number of untraced references and rectifying some instances of incorrect spelling. The synopses of chapters have been deleted." Wijesekera adds that, "To those who would regard Buddhism as merely one of the so-called 'organized religions' Dr. Tachibana" gives a vigorous noogie.
