Paris: Firmin Didot Freres, 1837. First edition. Hardcover. Very good overall. Part 2 of L'Univers Pittoresque Amerique, illustrated with 96 wonderful engraved plates of scenes in the Eastern U. S., including West Point (p258), Philadelphia, New York, the Palisades, Lake George, Boston and more. The author was the French Minister to America, 1829-1831.

8vo, 400 pp, folding map of the United States to date & 96 full page steel engravings, text printed in two columns. Green gilt cloth with the original printed papered hardboards, rubbed at edges o/w a nice copy with mild scattered fox spotting. Sabin 73516, Howes R473.
