Dublin: The Talbot Press, 1918. First edition of John Butler Yeats' collection of essays. Octavo, original cloth with paper labels to the spine and front panel, engraved tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait of Yeats. In very good condition. John Butler Yeats was an Irish portrait painter and the father of William Butler Yeats, Lily Yeats, Elizabeth Corbett "Lolly" Yeats and Jack B. Yeats. Each would build careers in the arts: Lily as an embroiderer, Lolly as an educator and publisher, Jack as an illustrator, and William as a poet and one of the foremost figures of 20th century literature.
