Maggie & Clare are less interested in hamsters than in boys. It's all boys now. Boys, boys, boys. I'll break her face. She checks herself out in the mirror by the hour. I told her cut it out. She [sic] wearing out the mirror. Also, I'm getting an education in teeny bop mating…

(London): Henry Hooper, 1840. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. 8vo, slightly flexible teal cloth stamped covers, good with light ewear to binding, text very good with some foxing to plates and because the book was perfect-bound, i.e. glued, there is some splitting and dryness but pages all seem firmly attached. Bookplates of Mary Elizabeth Hudson and her longtime companion Dorothy Sturges (Hudson was friends with the Irish authors Somerville and Ross and published an early bibliography of them). Some darkening at the inner hinges. Probably a later issue as there is a 16pp. Tilt & Bogue catalogue (somewhat smaller in size than the pages of the book) at rear dated 1841.
