Hayley and Thornton met at Trinity Hall, Cambridge in roughly 1762, and remained friends until Thornton's death on the 5th January 1780. Besides that, little is known of Thornton, as he did not appear to be in the public eye. Hayley was an English author, and is best known for his biography of his good friend William Cowper. Disbound.
