About This Item

Washington, D.C.: Carnegie Institution of Washington, 1938. Large Octavo. 268 pages, bibliography, index, with 48 plates. The importance of this work was that it was the first to show the Toroweap (formerly known as the Aubrey) with all the permian rocks of this expanded region. The author has not only listed the newly discovered items but given more thorough descriptions of the earlier studies. The 48 pages of photographic plates with an extensive index is why this book remains an important source as noted in the Journal of Paleontology article on the Kaibab. An ex-library copy bound in original stiff paper wraps lettered and pictorially stamped in black, numbers to lower left of front wrap, their stamp to verso, and with their perforated stamp to title page, some toning to edges, internally clean.
