Ryan) gilt-stamped on upper board, edges a bit rubbed and bumped, else very good in a somewhat shelfworn, price-clipped dust jacket. First edition. Inscribed by Eastman on a sheet inserted before the front free endsheet to the author's first wife, Ida Rauh "To Ida - for better or worse - Max -" A clipped example of the inset portrait of the author on the front panel of the dust jacket is tipped to the inscribed sheet. Eastman and Rauh were married in 1911 and divorced in 1922 -- she was essential to Eastman's early commitment to socialism and progressive causes.
