W. 1921' in the margin. A fine copy in a beautiful fine leather binding. Full dark blue morocco. Spine with raised bands. The compartments lettered, ruled and decorated in gilt. Both boards with decorative black and grey leather onlaid border design, edged with gilt dots and within a single gilt ruled border. Board edges with single gilt ruled lines. Inner boards with four gilt ruled lines and decorative corner designs. Soft tan leather endpapers. All edges gilt. A fine and beautiful early twentieth century leather binding. The book is housed in a custom two piece slip case with felt lining in the lower part where the book slides into a blue leather entry case within a brown morocco faux book. When the top is placed on the whole case resembles a full morocco bound volume with raised bands and blind tooled ruled lines and lettering. A truly beautiful and finely executed delux leather binding. The binding is unsigned but certainly the work of a master bookbinder. Ma.

A beautifully produced edition in the arts and crafts style of the period, in a skilfully repaired but very good quality and still attractive early leather binding.

A very good copy in a highly decorative early leather binding of full dark green morocco, mostly mellowed to an attractive brown colour, with five raised bands to the spine, each ruled in gilt. Compartments ruled and decorated in gilt. Boards fully gilt with elaborate lattice design which has Rampant lion and thistle designs in each small compartments, all within a double ruled gilt border. Turn-ins with decorative gilt borders. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Small area of loss to the bottom outer corner of the front board but overall still a very good attractive late Victorian leather binding.

From the estate of my great-great grandfather.Includes many unique poems and recitations such as "To a skull", "Uncle Daniel's Introduction to a Mississippi Steamer", "The Leak in the Dyke", etc. More well-known poetry includes "Song of Birds", "Old Ironsides", and "Bannock Burn" by Robbie Burns. Light rubbing and bumps to outside spine edges. Back cover and interior cloth covered board has a stain at top. Original owner's name and address from 1908, but no other writing or marks. First 2 pages have a stain at top, but text of 192 pages of poetry and recitations is totally clean with light tanning of pages.

The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows…) that led to me writing the poem "Quartering."
