Manchester: J.E. Cornish, 1899. Quarto. 105pp. The essays are on Francis Bacon, Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, George Berkeley, David Hume and John Stuart Mill. His essay on John Locke is among the most important and has led to scholars taking sides on his view. Bound in white linen lettered in gilt, spine plain, previous owner's name to front pastedown, spine browned and exhibits two small holes, light toning to page edges, boards with soiling. A good copy.
