The text is illustrated with 57 black-and-white contemporary illustrations, drawings or cartoons. Brown coloured boards with gilt writing on the spine. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing illustration by Hogarth " The Beggar's Opera " against a pale gold background with black-and-white writing on the front panel and spine. Top edge of text block tinted a pale red, slight darkening of the edges of the text block, the front edge of the text block has a couple of accidental feint red Biro marks, and there is offset tanning to both the front and rear free end pages. The front fold over flap has been creased.
