Bound in the publishers original caramel coloured cloth with gilt title lettering to the spine.The binding and 128 interior pages remain in exceptional condition with no inscriptions. Frontispiece is William Hogarth's " Girl In White ". Housed in matching coloured dustjacket which bears "The Charteris Children " by George Romney to the front panel. Original publishers printed price of 25/- net remains intact to the bottom inside flap of dustjacket. To the rear panel are advertisements for two of Shipp's other authoritive titles on both The Dutch Masters and The Flemish Masters. Average wear and creasing to the dust jacket, mainly to top edge and spine otherwise in presentable condition. There are 25 colour plates and 16 monotone plates of a high quality to supplement Shipp's excellent text.. First Edition. Near Fine/Very Good.
