Oxford at the Clarendon Press, London, 1966. Reprint. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. preface by author, bibliography, supplementary notes and index. Dark blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles and decoration to the back strip. Plain text dustwrapper with purple coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. This book was first published in 1947. "It is concerned with the principal sections of the hierarchy of the English Church as it existed during the two centuries before the Reformation. From the discussion of the episcopate and the official staff who is aid diocesan administration was carried on, it proceeds to the higher clergy and to the Constitution and management of the cathedral and collegiate chapters of which they were members." -- From the front fold over panel blurb. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with rubbing of the book corners. Uniform browning of the top and front text block edge with scattered foxing. Light foxing spots to the endpapers with age toning of the pages. A previous owner has underlined some of the text in a pencil or black coloured ink. Previous owner's name to the top right hand corner of the free front endpaper. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and back strip trip corners. Heavy sunning of the back strip with lighter sunning of the rear panel and fading of the front panel. Some handling marks also present and there is browning of the verso along with some faint foxing spots. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [7], VIII - XV, [2], 2 - 327, [1] pages,.
