Berlin: B. Cassirer, 1908. First Edition. First Edition. Oblong quarto. Color pictorial paper covered boards, color decorated endpapers, 16 superb full-page pochoir colored illustrations by K. F. E. von Freyhold. Celebrated for its depth of feeling and delicate coloration and composition, these series of illustrations by Freyhold are among the finest to be found in any Jugendstil books of the period. A book seldom found without repairs, this copy is completely unsophisticated with all plates clean and bright. The spine has some slight fraying on top and bottom, corners slightly chipped and hinges only starting to weaken with some separation. Covers show some wear and soiling, yet a very nice copy indeed, in its original state of a book many consider to be among the finest representation of Jugendstil art.

Illustrated with a colour frontis and forty nine full colour plates, all mounted onto thick art paper pages at back of book, each one with a printed tissue guard. Decorative endpapers with map of Kensington Gardens. A near fine, bright and clean copy throughout in original russet cloth binding with gilt stamped decoration and lettering to front board and spine. Very minor rubbing to hinges and a small bump to the lower front board at the outer corner, but overall a beautiful clean copy of this classic. Among the very best of Rackham's work.

Twelve Fables of Aesop narrated by Glenway Wescott, illustrated with 18 linoleum blocks by Antonio Frasconi, designed and printed in three colors (black, gray, and red) on Rives mould-made paper by Joseph Blumenthal at the Spiral Press, New York, from hand-set Emerson type and from the artist's original blocks. The edition is limited to 975 numbered copies and 25 lettered review copies, all signed by Mr. Frasconi, Mr. Wescott, and Mr. Blumenthal. This copy is one of the 25 lettered copies (copy number "F"). In addition to the other three signatures, it is signed by Monroe Wheeler. In 1935 Wheeler was employed by New York's Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). He was on the Library Committee and in three years he was Director of Membership and the following year Director of Publications. First edition, first state (plate stock only coated on one side). 261 pp. 8vo., dark green cloth printed in black, with color illustrated pastedown on front cover. Cover and cloth clean, a few small pale scratches to rear board. Illustrated endpapers slightly tanned. In original very good color illustrated dust jacket, with a few nicks from the tail of the spine, a few closed tears to edges and light soil. Nineteenth of the Oz story books. A very nice example of a title in the very scarce dust jacket.

Four fabulous and detailed double-page pop-up scenes, plus full and partial page black & white illustrations throughout. The boards are ever so lightly soiled else this is a fine copy with fine pop-ups. The scarce dustwrapper is present; it lightly browned with age else near fine. A nice copy of an early Disney work.

Original colorfully printed boards. The four large pop-ups are in fine condition. There is some age-browning to the boards, and both corners are bumped, but this is a very good copy. With the scarce pictorial dustwrapper, also lightly age-browned else in very good condition. Overall, a nice copy of this early Disney work.
