Illustrated paperback binding with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Green coloured tint to the text block edges. The story of Alan Romains, a French espionage agent during World War II, who was captured twice by the Gestapo, tortured, and on the second occasion, shot and left for dead. He survived, and, lived to confront his "executioner" face to face.  A previous owner has covered the book in clear contact plastic – which has started to yellow. Rubbing of the book edges and there is a chip to the lower right-hand corner of the back strip. Fading to the back strip, along with reading creases, and, a small chip to the lower right-hand corner. Rubbing of the book panels with age toning of the pages. Previous bookseller and owners' rubberstamp to the verso of the front panel. White coloured sticker to the lower edge of the back strip, underneath the contact plastic.  This is the first Australian edition. Size: 12mo (standard paperback).
