Edinburgh: John Grant, 1906 A good to very good copy of the 'Winchester Edition' of Jane Austen's Emma in 2 volumes. In the original green cloth bindings with gilt titles to spine. Top page edges gilt; remainder untrimmed. The bindings are in good to very good clean condition with bright gilt to spines. There is some pulling to spine ends and slight fading. Vol I has a small fray at the top spine end and an indent to the front spine joint and side edge of the front board, presumably from a string tie. There is also a grubby area to the top page edge. Both bindings are cocked to the front. Vol I: half title to Winchester Edition Vol VII; title page in red and black; half title to volume; dedication to the Prince Regent; text 355p. Contents good - some browning to free endpapers and sporadic spotting, particularly at the beginning of the volume. Vol II: half title Winchester Edition Vol VIII; title page; half title to volume; text 358pp. Contents very clean with browning to endpapers and sporadic light foxing. Both volumes have the decorative bookplate of Sarah Rosina Dodd to the front free endpaper.
