This is Phillips' description of Rowan's book: 'Numerous descriptions of hunting all kinds of game in Eastern Canada, including Anticosti.' The author writes in a humorous, personal style that carries on well today. The book deals with duck and quail shooting in Ontario; moose, caribou and wildfowl shooting in Quebec; bass and salmon fishing in New Brunswick; angling in Cape Breton and on Anticosti Island. The book is bound in its original green cloth with gilt titles on the spine an black rules an decorations on the covers. Armorial book plate to the front paste down, browning to the half-title, light corner wear to the binding. A nice book. Very good..

Hinges expertly repaired (cloth on top right corner of spine slightly loose with no loss to repair). A few small spots to cover, edges gently rubbed. Owner's signature to front pastedown, offset onto half-title. Tear in map. A few page edges a little rough. Chapters on each province from Ontario to the Maritimes as well as Cape Breton and Anticosti. Chapters on the Intercolonial Railroad, Canadian Forests, Winter in Canada, as well as advice on trapping, angling, and questions of climate.
