About This Item
New York: Longmans, Green and Co, 1960. Hardcover. Illustrations by Tom O'Sullivan. Small 8vo. Burgundy cloth with black spine lettering and graphic, pictorial price-clipped dust jacket. 119pp, (1p). Line drawings. Near fine/very good. Jacket a tad edgeworn and rubbed, with couple edge chips at bottom of front panel. Quite tight and nice first edition of this juvenile fiction about "Shy, tomboy Elizabeth avoids sewing. Then, the distinguished stranger with the torn sleeve arrives at her Illinois farm home...." Handsomely inscribed and signed by the author in blue ink on front flyleaf: "for Ronnie Knight -- / with all good wishes -- / Jacqueline McNicol." Surprisingly uncommon, especially signed.
