New York: John Wiley & Sons, 1874. First Edition. Octavo. 177pp., 18 folding plates at rear, (1)pp. ad (910-106 publisher's ads. Bound in brown cloth, spine lettering gilt. The author of this work, D.H. Mahan was a noted military theorist, civil engineer, Commander in the U.S. Navy and Professor at West Point from 1824 until his death in 1871. This copy was owned by Will (William) S. (Staring) Davies, graduate of West Point in 1874. A very good copy with a few closed tears to folds of plates with edges a bit rough, binding rubbed around the edges, spine ends chipped. A very scarce work.
