About This Item

Amsterdam, Netherlands: WereldBibliotheek-Vereniging, 1949. Hardcover without dust jacket, 29 pages including wood engravings;--- text in Dutch;---"Dit is nummer 262" of this limited edition, numbered and signed by the illustrator H. D. Voss; this is one of the personal copies of Voss, later a Dutch-Canadian silhouette artist and graphic designer;---also included are a plain white flimsy paper dust jacket, a four-fold sheet of stiff brown paper enfolding the book and DJ, all inside another grey-brown two-fold corrugated cardboard folder, all again wrapped in plain brown wrapping paper tied with very thin shopping string which I just cut;---slim elegant book in golden orange covers which have an engraving of Goethe on the front with his name in gilt, and his name in gilt again on the spine between the numerals 1749, 1949;---whole package labelled in pencil as "262" on the exterior of the brown wrapping paper and clearly unopened in 72 years, not a trace of shelf wear, but the spine is slightly slanted, interior very clean and unmarked, pages fresh and white;---this book acquired from Voss's estate and one of the very few lacking his professionally designed (by him) bookplate. Check all of our Dutch language books by using the Keywords "text in Dutch". . Signed by Illustrator. Limited Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good ++. Illus. by Voss, H. D..
