Hardcover without dust jacket, 29 pages including wood engravings;--- text in Dutch;---"Dit is nummer 260" of this limited edition, numbered and signed by the illustrator H. D. Voss; this is one of the personal copies of Voss, later a Dutch-Canadian silhouette artist and graphic designer;--slim elegant book in golden orange covers which have an engraving of Goethe on the front with his name in gilt, and his name in gilt again on the spine between the numerals 1749, 1949;---very gently used, hardly a trace of shelf wear, but the spine is slightly slanted, interior very clean and unmarked, pages fresh and white;---this book acquired from Voss's estate and one of the very few lacking his professionally designed (by him) bookplate.
