About This Item

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1971. First edition, early printing of the economist's classic work. Octavo, original illustrated boards, no dust jacket was issued. Signed by Gary Becker on the title page. In near fine condition. Gary Becker argues in Economic Theory that economic analysis is essential to understanding much of the behavior traditionally studied by sociologists, anthropologists, and other social scientists. Becker received the 1992 Nobel Prize in economics for "having extended the domain of economic theory to aspects of human behavior which had previously been dealt with—if at all—by other social science disciplines such as sociology, demography and criminology.
