New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1935. First edition of this work by Knight, whom F.A. Hayek proclaimed, "to be one of the major figures in preserving and promoting classical liberal thought in the twentieth century." Octavo, original cloth. Boldly signed by Frank H. Knight on the title page. Near fine in the original dust jacket with some wear and chipping to the crown of the spine. Books signed by Knight are uncommon. Frank H. Knight, one of the founding members of the Chicago School of economics. He coined the term Knightian Uncertainty and among his students were Milton Friedman, George Stigler and James M. Buchanan. Ronald Coase said that Knight, without teaching him, was a major influence on his thinking.
