London: Ballantyne Press, 1902. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Limited Edition of 300 copies printed on Arnold hand-made paper, designed by Charles Ricketts and printed under his supervision. Bound in quarter cloth with blue paper-covered boards. Cloth corners, edges and ends of spine are moderately rubbed and worn, and in a few small spots on the edges, as well as the corners, the underlying boards peak through. Pages are clean and uncut and in excellent, Near Fine condition. Blue cover shows some areas of light discoloration, toning and foxing, and there is a small 1" chip where the paper covers meet the back spine. A very good, handsome, tightly bound folio. London: Vale Press, 1902. First edition thus. Hardcover. Orig. holland backed boards, uncut, paper label upper front cover. Very good. Ricketts, Charles. 17 pages. 29.5 x 20 cm. Printed at the Ballantyne Press for Hacon & Ricketts in red and black under the supervision of Charles Ricketts in the King's fount. Roderick Cave in "The Private Press," notes, his (Ricketts) practice of thinking each work out afresh was a valuable lesson for latter book designers, and most notable perhaps in Meynell's work at the Nonesuch Press. Limited edition, one of 300. Slight nick to corners, endpapers toned.
