Marked volume II to the binding and contains Mathers Volume 4 (1927) Eastern Love: The Young Wives' Tale and Tales of Fez; Volume 5 (1928) Eastern Love: The Loves of Radha Krishna and Amores of Amaru and Mayura; Volume 6 (1928) Eastern Love: Love Stories and Gallant Tales from the Chinese. Illustrated with copper engravings by Hester Sainsbury and hand coloured by the printer. 1000 numbered copies printed but the number is in the missing volume 1. Bind has gilt illustration to front and gilt titles to spine. Gilt to front is bright but pale vellum bevelled boards, once dark cream or yellow, are heavily dust soiled and has some occasional marks to front, with a significant stain to back which as a thin layer of paper stuck to it. Gilt to spine is rubbed and the spine is creased and marked. Slight stain to endpapers to closed page edges of next few pages. Text block is clean and bright and illustrations are crisp. Gilt to top edge; uncut to fore-edge and bottom edge. One illustration has missed being coloured. An unusual volume of traditional tales in translation from Arabic, Sanskrit and Chinese. Good+, sound copy. . Hardcover. 1927.
