W. Van Hoeve Ltd, The Hague, 1964. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Good. (5) VI-VII (4) 4-284 pages, foreword by author and index of names. Green coloured cloth covered boards with small dark red insert to be backstrip and within that insert and to the top edge of the backstrip are gilt titles. Blue coloured tint to the top text block edge. Minor bumping to the backstrip edge and rubbing to the book corners. Light age toning of the text block edges and of the internal text. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down. Plain text dustwrapper with light blue coloured background and brown decoration to the front panel. Brown titles to the front panel and backstrip. A little rubbing to the dustwrapper edges and dustwrapper panels. Chipping to the top backstrip edge and there is a 0.75 " tear to the lower right-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel and a 2 inch tear along the lower edge of the same panel, with associated creasing. Heavy sunning to the backstrip and handling marks a present to the dustwrapper panels. Sunning to the verso of the dustwrapper, along the backstrip region. " The papers and articles brought together in this volume constitute an attempt to provide a theoretical frame for sociologists who are interested in the contemporary study of Asian countries." -- From the front fold over panel.
