London: Hutchinson, 1960. Silver title on green cloth boards which are unmarked with no wear. Interally there is a gift inscription to front pastedown else very clean, tight and unmarked. Dustjacket has some repaired closed tears and some wear to top edge and is not priceclipped. 207 pages. 30 photographs. The travel writer is a confirmed lover of the East and he returns to give a freshly observed account of Hadhramaut, where he reflects upon the impact of modern trends on an old way of life; of Kashmir, Ceylon, Singapore, Malaya, all revisited ater a long absence; of the less familiar island of Borneo 'another world - which our commercial rapaciousness have only lightly touched'; of Bangkok and Hong Kong, and of Fiji, where at the end of his journey, he refreshed his understanding of 'the abundant happiness of people and their unexplained hope'. 117. Hutchinson, London. 1960. 1st. edn. Hardback in dustwrapper. Lge. 8vo. pp207 + 30 b/w photo-illus. Orig. green cloth, silver stamped to v. slightly bumped spine. Top edges dusty & old neat biro price (1/6d) to fep. VG+ in d/w with chipping & wear to extreme upper edge & 2 tears to front & 1 to rear. These were rprd. to the rear in the past with scotch tape, since fallen off, but some staining shows through to the front; both front & rear foldovers have been trimmed at the edge. All tears & creases now stabilised & rprd with acid-free conservation tape & the d/w is protected. Please ask for a scan to assess.
