First edition/first printing with the first published statement on the copyright page,'bite' for 'bight' on page 281, line 38, authors photo on the rear cover with no reviews; A near fine book in a very good dust jacket. A clean, bright, and tight copy of this master work by one of the great authors of the 20th century. The near fine book has a tight binding with bright lettering on the front cover and spine; minor crimping is present on the bottom spine end and there is mild sunning to the boards; the pages show a very mild age toning. Housed in a very good, price clipped dust jacket that shows mild rubbing and chipping to the spine ends and corners, and two small closed tears to the top edge of the back panel. Overall, a handsome, attractive copy protected in a mylar cover and shipped in a sturdy box.

FIRST PRINTING OF FIRST EDITION WITH SPELLING ERROR 'bite' instead of 'bight' ON PAGE 281. used hardcover lacking a dustjacket. mild fading to boards with some discoloration around edges and gutters. ditto exterior edge of pastedown endpapers. green cloth boards and brick-red spine title remain bright and vivid. some discoloration to edges and gutters of boards. corners bumped, spine ends crimped. first ten pages have a diagonal crease in them; covers close flat, crease does not compromise readability or function. pages and binding are clean, straight and tight. there are no marks to any pages whatsoever, and no flaws aside those mentioned above.
