William Blackwood & Sons, Edinburgh and London, 1899. Reprint. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Fair Condition. Preface to the second edition, preface to the first edition introduction by author notes and index. Black coloured end pages. Dark red coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. The title says it all. Softening, rubbing and a little fraying of the back strip edges and of the book corners. There is rubbing to the front book edges and lower book edges; some rubs and marks to the book panels and there is a score to the rear panel. A little flecking to the front edge of the front panel. Tanning and faint foxing of the text block edges. Cracking of the front and rear hinges. Remnants of a sticker can be seen to the top right hand corner of the free front end page. The half title page has numerous owners' names  please see photograph; on the verso of the half title page there are some notes and to the top right hand corner is a previous owners name which has been scrubbed out. This book has been used as a text and there are lines against paragraphs and underlining and there is marginalia. Sixth Edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
