Paperback octavo, very good condition, black & white figures, charts, top corner rear cover creased, crease front cover near spine, small mark fore-edge. 382 pp. The author has chapters on the late-19th-century debate over the meanings of male desire and female virtue, the ideas of Mary Baker Eddy and Warren Felt Evans, the rise of Emma Curtis Hopkins, three novels written by female New Thought authors, and the life and thought of Helen Wilmans (1831 - 1907). Explains why some prominent turn-of-the-century political reformers were fascinated by New Thought. Describes the subsequent transformation of New Thought in early 20th century United States.
