Slight wear to edges and corners of boards, a bit more to dust jacket. Light spotting and soiling to dj. SIGNED and inscribed by Layden on half title page. 175 p. w/ illustrations. The uncommon memoir of one of the Four Horsemen from Notre Dame college football under legendary coach Knute Rockne in from 1922 - 1924, losing only 2 games. Layden went on to coach football at his alma mater and then became Athletic director there. In 1941 he became the Commissioner of of the National Football League until 1946.
