Sound, clean, unmarked, a very good copy of first issue. The Spaniards instituted the encomienda system of taxation of indigenous farmer/producers. It was not working efficiently and Sr Ramiriz was tasked with "visiting" village after village to rectify; this occupied him the years 1551-1555. University of Missouri Studies vol. XX no. 4.
