Plymouth Notch was the birthplace and family home of Calvin Coolidge, a U.S. President. The Editors' Preface offers a Brown family history, as written by these two young women, as well as genealogy notes in paragraph form. Captured 50 years later, hired hand Hyde Leslie, born in Plymouth, and also with family in Tyson VT, kept his notes for his year of work for the Brown family in Plymouth Notch. The Index is comprehensive in listing names mentioned in the diaries.
