About This Item

New York, New York: Weybright and Talley, 1968. Second Printing. . Hardcover. Fine/Very Good +. F/F/1st ed; 2nd printing. I have to say right up front that I've never cared for Erskine Caldwell's writings. I think he mostly paints southerners in an unsympathic light, for all that he grown up in Georgia, he does'nt seem like a southerner. He points out our rough spots, while neglecting the good. This book was written in 1966. Some things have changed, some have not. This book is mostly about religion throughout the South, in all social spheres, in all education brackets. Part one was published in England under the title"In the Shadow of the Steeple" Part II, "AT the other end of Town" is published in this volume for the first time. Book Condition is Fine; blue cloth over boards with white lettering on spine. 257pp. First Edition, second printing. Book is clean, tight and square. No writing or markings. Dust Jacket Condition is Very Good+; glossy jacket with no nicks or tears. Has been price clipped. Jacket is covered with a removable mylar dust jacket.
